If you only have a day to spend sailing the seas, then spending an hour and a half to two hours each way on the ferry is far too long.

Closer islands offer a different type of sailing experience. You will have the luxury of stopping at secluded bays instead of some of the tourist hot spots, where you cannot find a spot for your towel.

Always, in my opinion. But it really just depends on what you're after. The truth is, the climate here is mild. So if you just want to sightsee, you can go all year round; it just depends on the day.

But generally, people tend to go from spring through early autumn. July and August are the peak season months, and you'll find most of the local beaches in Zadar very, very crowded. That's why we'll find you a secluded, or at least peaceful bay for you to discover.

June and September are perfect, because the temperatures are comfortable and still warm, but the crowds have dispersed.

Now, if you want a mix of setting sail and still being comfortable, possibly in your t-shirt while doing so, May and October, AKA the shoulder season, are ideal for hiking, exploring and sailing around Zadar.

What to Expect on a Typical Island-Hopping Day
